5 Rules for Digital Minimalism

Nothing is more important for discipleship than stewarding our attention. Our attention is how we practice the presence of God. This means that succumbing to an age of distraction is a serious threat to spiritual health. We practice a modified form of digital minimalism in order to protect ourselves from addictive technology.

  1. Delete any apps you do not use

  2. Remove all unnecessary notifications from your phone

  3. Use social media only as needed for work and necessary communication

  4. Schedule do not disturb feature on your phone after working hours so that you can relax, for example, from 7pm to 7am

  5. Set a time in the morning before which you will not check email and a time at night after which you will not check email.
